Dr. Randal ChaseRandal Chase joined Immunovaccine in 2006, with more than 30 years of expertise in vaccines. As president and CEO, Dr. Chase is currently focused on the commercialization of the company’s DepoVax™ vaccine delivery technology and advancing product candidates to clinical trials.
Dr. Chase’s early career was at Bristol Meyers and Glaxo Pharmaceutical. He is also a former president of Quadra Logic Technologies (QLT), Pasteur Merieux Connaught Canada and North American Vaccine. From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Chase was president of Shire Biologics, where he negotiated a $350 million pandemic flu contract with the Canadian Government.
Currently, he is chairman of the Board of Directors of Medicago, a company conducting Phase II clinical trials of a flu vaccine grown in plants. Previous appointments include: director of Bioject Medical Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ) until November 2009, director of Acambis PLC (London Stock Exchange, NASDAQ) until its sale in late 2008, director of Conjuchem Inc. and Conjuchem Biotechnologies Inc. (TSX) until February 2009 and board member of Biotech Canada until April 2010. Dr. Chase attended the Executive Program of the London Business School in the UK, holds a PhD in biochemistry from the University of British Columbia, and did his post doctoral fellowship at the McArdle Cancer Institute of the University of Wisconsin.
